Crises Management
Crisis - a time of intense emotional distress, whether personal, family-related, or tied to a difficult life event. Crisis is different from an emergency, which is requires immediate action (i.e. someone is in immediate danger, at risk of harming self/others). For emergencies - call 911.

Call or text 988 for 24/7 assistance with crises management. Service is available in English or Spanish.
For adult crisis management, Mobile Crisis Team can provide face-to-face interventions for individuals in crises while Crisis Respite Centers can offer temporary residential stay in a warm, safe and supportive home-like environment.
For minors (ages 5- 18) Home Based Crisis Intervention services provide brief (4-6 weeks) at home crisis care)

988 Lifeline provides support services for persons in crises. Services are available by phone, chat, and text. Services also available for deaf/HoH
Additionally, safety planning steps and Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale/Lighhouse Project offer practical tools for suicide assessment and risk management.
Safety Plan app allows for self-development of sharable safety plan.
How Do I Find Mental Health Services?
NYC Well allows to locate mental health services by location, type, insurance, work hours etc. Type your search term (e.g. "psychotherapy") into the text box titled "I am looking for help with" and search/filter available options.
Psychology Today offers a search for psychotherapists, psychiatrists, treatment centers and support groups. Select service using the drop down menu and type ZIP or location in the search box to access available options
American Psychological Association - Psychologist Locator allows to locate practicing psychologist by geographic area and area of specialty.
American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) Specialist Search allows to locate board-certified psychologists across a range of specialties such as clinical, couple and family, group, neuropsychology, rehabilitation, health, forensic, psychoanalysis etc.
